The Sculptor
Leopold Bernhard at work From the mere creation of an angelic baby to the sumptuous modeling of a towering life-size figure, Bernhard is forever testing his artistic limits. We can see the artists amazing versatility in many of his larger-than-life creations. Truly, one of the most exiting, is his commission to create a series of monumental sculptures for the Opera House in Nürnberg, Germany. Bernhard´s mission was to re-create images that were destroyed during World War II. By creating sculptures in their behalf, Bernhard paid homage to the female deities and heroes of the past by forever immortalizing their figures in bronze. In his inspirational creations, he masterfully brought back to life what once lay in ruin. The unveiling of the monumental figures was just celebrated in April of 1996.
