Leopold Bernhard at work

Since completing his training as a sculptor in 1978, Leopold Bernhard has been working on himself and his sculpture. Bronze, stone and wood are his materials. People, heads, large-scale statues are the themes that fascinate him. Yesterday, today, tomorrow. Every subject is his baby, which he takes care of – until he finds that it has grown up.

That holds both for commissions and for his work as free lance artist:

Portraits, classic and modern
Life-size figures
Sculptures for parks
Fountains for courtyards and open squares
Small scale figures in precious metals
Large-scale sculptures such as the figures for the facade of the Nürnberg Opera house (18 feet tall)
Restauration work for museums and churches
Restauration of sandstone figures
